18th Birthday Party Ideas

Games To Liven Up Any Young Adult’s Party

There are a lot of innocent games that can be played to get the party rolling. While no one will advocate drinking alcohol at a party held for an 18 year old, the reality is, some will consume alcohol. If there is alcohol served or consumed at a party where you are the host/hostess, remember to ensure that all of your guests drink responsibly and that there are either designated drivers to ensure everyone gets home safely, there are taxi numbers on hand or there is plenty of room for people to spend the night! With that said, any of the following games can be played while perfectly sober, however, they do tend to get extremely interesting after say a game of beer pong or two.

Gravity Wins

Place a full pail of water, with handle, or a chair next to a wall. Tell your guests that only the strongest of people can lift the pail or chair. The person who decides to prove he/she can do it – should be instructed to take a half of a step back from the pail/chair and place his/her head against the wall. Have that person lift the pail/chair with both hands and pull him/her self straight up. No using the wall to “push” the head backwards. They must lift straight up. It is said this is physically impossible to do. No one will be able to achieve this task. The “strong” person will remain with his/her head glued to the wall.

Move The Foot

Bet any person (or persons) that you can make them stand in such a manner that he/she cannot raise his/her foot. Of course, someone will have to call you on this. Have the person stand next to the wall, both heels touch the wall (or door if there is a baseboard on the wall), they cannot swing or sway – they must not move in any way. Now have that person raise one foot off the floor. It cannot be done without shifting weight from one foot to the other (which will make them move, or shift). After the laughter dies down, everyone will want to try.

Smash The Eggs

Find six, willing and rather brave guests. Inform them that several of the eggs on the table are hard-boiled and one is raw. Each guest is to choose ahead of time his/her egg and the order they will take their turn. Watch to see who volunteers to go last. Place a bib on the person (or something else to ensure the guests clothing does not get raw egg splatter on it) and have them stand over a place on the floor that has been covered (again to ensure that the raw eggs do not make a mess on the floor). One by one, each person will smash the egg against the forehead. With each passing person, a sigh will be heard as they discover they picked a hard boiled egg. When the last person decides to go ahead and smash the egg against his/her forehead – even though he/she knows that it is raw – they will be surprised – THAT egg is also hard-boiled. However, that person gets the party gift for being such a good sport and going through with it anyway.

Freeze Dancing

Freeze Dancing is a new twist to an old game. Where once we were children and the music would stop, each would grab a chair until there were only two people with one chair left. This version requires no chairs. Instead, everyone starts dancing – when the music is stopped – everyone has to freeze in place. The music stays stopped until someone moves, giggles or cannot maintain the freeze position anymore. As each person moves, he/she must leave the game until there are only two people left on the dance floor. The last person standing gets the prize.
