Party Décor and Supplies For Your 18th Birthday

Gathering the supplies and decorations for your big day does not have to be overwhelming or complicated. The biggest decisions to make have already been made, you have decided where to have the party, how many guests are attending and what the theme (if any) is going to be.

Now you can start planning the supplies you will need. Some are basic necessities, such as plates of varying sizes, cups or glasses, eating utensils and any items necessary to serve the food and cake with. The reason you will want more than one size plate is because you will need one (at least) for the primary foods or snacks that will be available to your guests and a much smaller one for when the cake is served. Table coverings of some sort should also be on your supply list. The best thing to use to cover mismatched or rented tables is a table clothe that will match the décor of the theme or other decorations that you choose.

Decorations completely depend on the theme or at the very least colour scheme you decide upon. For a Hawaiian Luau type of party theme for example, you will want all of your decorations to help set the tone of being at an actual Hawaiian luau. Those may include tikki torches, grass skirting to cover the bar or tables, and bongo types of drums.

Another possibility is a “black and white ball”. Normally when you think of a black and white ball, the instant thought is a formal affair. You can have an informal gathering where you want all the females to wear white and all the males to wear black. These can be shorts, bathing suits, jeans or other informal attire. In a situation such as this – you will want all of your decorations to be done in varying shades of black and white. It is a new twist to the black and white ball.

Decorations of course can always include streamers, balloons, candles and table centerpieces. For a really spectacular day of memories, think about putting a disposable camera on each table or on a particular table where guests can pick them up at will and take candid shots during the party. The guest of honour is never going to see everything that happens during a large gathering, he or she is normally busy with the guests. Having disposable cameras for your guests to use, they can get plenty of pictures for you to develop at a later time for memories that will last a lifetime.

Your birthday cake is going to be a centerpiece of any decorating ideas. Make sure that it is in a place of honour. You will also want to make sure that you have one particular area to place gifts that are brought for the birthday person. Those tables should be decorated in a similar manner but with subtle differences.
