18th Birthday Party Ideas

Celebrate Your 18th Birthday In Style

Eventually every young adult finally reaches that magical age of eighteen. The day that the law says you are not a kid anymore, but an adult. No one gets to make decisions for you anymore, no more pesky curfews, finally you get to come and go as you please. Unless of course, you still live at home with your parents, where their rules – well Rule!

It is a huge time in your life. Celebrate your 18th birthday in style, preferably a style that is uniquely your own. Where to have your big celebration depends on many things, your personal tastes, what size party you want to have, and the budget you have to work with. All of these things will impact the venue you choose.

A great option for a smaller, more intimate celebration is for a small group of your friends (usually 4 to 8) to book a cruise. Generally speaking, booking a cruise can be much less expensive then many think. If you have a group of people that book two rooms for a week or ten day cruise, you will spend a solid week or more celebrating your birthday. Cruises offer everything from pre-scheduled events to open schedule possibilities. There is plenty of food, usually cuisine that is fabulous and would otherwise be far too expensive to even consider trying, dancing, games, swimming, and frequently multiple shows aboard the craft that you can enjoy.

For larger parties, there are so many options available, the first thing you might want to do is narrow down that guest list a little bit. An outdoor barbeque and pool party is a great way to spend a day and well into the evening with friends and family. DJ’s or a live band can keep the crowd hopping, while someone is cooking the food and others are dancing or swimming – or both.

If your tastes are a little more formal then an outdoor bbq, maybe a hotel or reception hall would be a more suitable choice. Usually they are catered and you can create the menu you want, whether it is a full, multi-course meal, or finger foods and snacks, with your favourite beverages to wash it all down. In the summertime, maybe you want to look into the accommodations at any of the National Parks. They frequently offer places for private parties and celebrations and can be as formal or as informal as you are.

A camping or beach party is always a crowd pleaser. What could be more invigorating then having a group of your friends heading out to the beach or the bush for a camping trip. If you are more an outdoorsmen – or woman rather than the stuck inside type – a camping trip can have your party last an entire weekend.
The first thing on every birthday list is figuring out who is going to attend, from there you can determine the size and location of your big bash. Whatever you decide, make sure that it truly is your decision. This is your big day – it should be an event that is designed around what you like and what you want. Some things in life do not lend themselves to compromise, how you celebrate legally becoming an adult, should be one of those “me” things.

Happy Birthday!
